10 and 11-OCT-2009 - IGIA Activities


Dear Udhayamites,

I am giving a brief overview of the activities at IGIA on 10th and 11th October, 2009.


ISSUES FROM THE STUDENTS’ SIDE

TENTH STANDARD:
1. Mathematics taught in English
2. Cant memorize the formula
3. Formulas are confusing
4. Cant understand the meaning of certain words, loose interest
5. All the computers are under repair

NINTH STANDARD
1. Science is tough
2. Biology is more tougher
3. If I score more or very well, who will sponsor for my studies in the future?

OBSERVATIONS

TENTH STANDARD
1. Everyone’s target score varies from 410 to 620
2. Everyone mug up science
3. Biology is interesting but physics and chemistry are boring
4. Most of them are very weak in Mathematics
5. Most of them read news paper everyday
6. They are very weak in basic mathematics
7. They grasp very well
8. Interest to learn more
9. Last year high score 435/625
10. Tamil : 91/125
11. English : 72/100
12. Kannada : 48/100
13. Mathematics : 65/100
14. Social Science : 78/100
15. Science : 41/65
16. Tough Subjects : Mathematics, Kannada

NINTH STANDARD
1. Everyone know English at least to some level
2. Everyone wants to learn English
3. They want to shine well in their life
4. They want more encouragement
5. They will shine
6. Interest to learn
7. Have doubt will they be able to do things?

WHAT THEY NEED FROM US

NINTH AND TENTH STANDARD:
1. Advise
2. Take class in the free time
3. Encouragement
4. Ideas to study
5. Motivation

ACTION ITEMS FOR THE TEAM

TENTH STANDARD
1. Prepare well before any meeting whether internal or with the students
2. Plan for helping students for the next 4 months
3. Have to know about various government scholarships
4. Arrange teachers for Kannada and Mathematics
5. Measures to improve student’s English
6. Should emphasize students on GD
7. Should encourage English among people

NINTH STANDARD
1. English class
2. Teach grammar
3. Encourage people
4. Motivational classes
5. Personality development
6. Speak out, public speaking
7. Teach Science, Biology and Physics Chemistry

MY VIEW – PERSONAL
1. Need not be too harsh on children
2. Need not threaten them
3. Should teach them playfully
4. They are very childish and grasp things easily
5. It took 1.5 hours to teach the simplest problem. But they were able to do the most toughest problem in a few minutes

We can teach them playfully but at the same time we need to keep our control over them, or else they won't consider us seriously. We will go there and deliver our full potential. Let us make these kids shine in their lives.
